Whether it be a single location or a portfolio spanning multiple locations, Steve has demonstrated a proven ability to rapidly assemble a team capable of assuming control over distressed assets, Steve diligently works to comprehend the lender's position and priorities, facilitating the navigation of the process through receivership. By adhering to a structured program that emphasizes process and accountability, he ensures that the affected parties are informed about impending actions and supports the actions that have been implemented.


As a seasoned veteran in the field, Steve has guided real estate and business operations through various market conditions and extremes. As the President of The Martens Companies since 1983 and being a two-term member of the NAI Global Leadership Council, Steve consistently exhibits a commitment to leadership excellence. Steve has also been recognized as the Hospitality Developer of the Year by Best Western Hotels and Resorts, invited to join the prestigious Society of Industrial and Office Realtors (SIOR), and honored with the CCIM Lifetime Achievement Award by the Kansas Chapter of CCIM.

“Steve’s team was tasked with assembling a takeover strategy to secure and manage 2,500 apartment units at six different locations in Wichita. The property records, including rent rolls, leases, and vendor records were not made available to Steve’s team. Within 72 hours of notification, the Receivership Services Team had people at each location to meet with the apartment employees and interact with tenants.
